Buxton Law GroupJim Buxton
Trial Lawyer
Mr. Buxton is a native Oklahoman, born and raised in Duncan, Oklahoma. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi and his law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law. He and is a graduate of the prestigious Trial Lawyers College in Dubois, Wyoming, founded by renowned trial lawyer Gerry Spence and He was also elected to the Trial Lawyers College F-Warriors Board as Region 5 representative in July 2011.
Mr. Buxton is an experienced trial lawyer who represents people who have been hurt or wronged by the carelessness of others or the greed of insurance companies. In addition to his active trial practice, Mr. Buxton is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars where he shares his knowledge and experience with other Oklahoma lawyers and is an active member in the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Buxton is licensed to practice in all Oklahoma State and Federal Courts and is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, Oklahoma Bar Foundation, Oklahoma County Bar Association, Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Buxton and his wife Katherine live in Oklahoma City where they raise their two daughters. He is a member of Nichols Hills Methodist Church and is active in many local charities and philanthropic organizations.
Jill Tate
Legal Assistant
Jill Tate joined the Buxton Law Group in 2006 as legal assistant which quickly expanded to include assisting with the personal injury cases before, after and during trial. She assists in maintaining close communications with clients through phone calls and correspondence, requests and organizes all medical records pertinent to a case. Jill also is responsible for managing and running the law firm.
Jill graduated from Bishop McGuinness High School in 1998, received her Associate of Arts in Teaching from San Marcos University in 2004 before returning to Oklahoma City to start a family. Jill is the proud mother of 2 girls, Rachel and Natalee. Jill loves to spend time with her girls, watching their various sporting activities.
William Kandel
Intern
I am currently a senior at the William F. Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma pursuing a BBA with a major in Finance. I am also a Pre-Law student earning my Legal Studies Certificate. I am from Denver, Colorado where I attended Kent Denver School and Graland Country Day School before moving to Norman, Oklahoma for university. I am planning on going to law school in the fall of 2024. I am applying to the University of Oklahoma, University of Tulsa, University of Denver, University of Colorado, University of Houston, and Texas A&M University.
Krystal Eaton
Legal Assistant
Krystal Eaton grew up in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, a small town south of Chickasha. Krystal started taking legal assistant classes at the Canadian Valley Technology Center in high school and soon found out that being a legal assistant and working in the law field was her true calling. She graduated from Rose State College in 2010 with an Associates Degree in Applied Science of Paralegal Studies. Krystal started an internship as a legal assistant in Chickasha, Oklahoma in 2008. That internship turned into a career. She has been a legal assistant for 12 years.
Krystal has worked with the Buxton Law Group since July of 2015. Krystal does a little bit of everything from helping clients who have incurred personal and property damages by sewer floods caused by the city’s sanitary sewer system. She also works on both Plaintiff and Defense side of motor vehicle and commercial vehicle accidents. Krystal chose to work at the Buxton Law Group because Jim is the type of attorney that works hard for his clients, he isn’t about the money, he is about the well being of his clients. Working with Jim, Jill and Logan has truly been a blessing, they are more than co-workers they are family. If not in the office, Krystal enjoys spending time with her husband Brock and their families watching OU Sooner football, visiting the beach and playing with their niece and nephews.
Spencer Habluetzel
Associate
Spencer Habluetzel joined the firm as an associate attorney in September 2024. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Psychology in 2009 as well as a Master of Science in Mathematics in 2011 from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
After earning his graduate degree, he graduated from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2014. During law school, Spencer served on the board of the Oklahoma City University Law Review and was awarded Editor-in-Chief award for outstanding service. During his tenure, he also authored a published article, “Is Your Shotgun Sporting?”
Since graduating, Spencer has worked in civil and appellate litigation. He has been a member of the Oklahoma County Bar Association and the Oklahoma Association of Justice since 2015. He enjoys learning about the law and researching answers to the variety of legal and practical issues that arise in his practice.
