A surfer recently filed a product liability lawsuit against a California surfboard manufacturer. The surfer, Tom Gregg, claims the fin was so sharp that it sliced his leg.
Tom Gregg is a recreational surfer who filed the lawsuit with the Los Angeles Superior Court Wednesday. Gregg contends that the surfboard, fins, and their component parts are unsafe for the intended use.
It is reported that the Channel Islands surfboard fin severed muscles in Gregg’s leg when he wiped out off the coast of France in 2009.
Scott Anderson, Channel Islands Surfboards general manager, states that it’s the first product liability suit he has heard of in his 20 years working at the firm.
Channel Islands was acquired by snowboard maker Burton Corp. five years ago. They sell boards at more than 400 stores worldwide.
